STL: Elderly woman seriously injured in rollover crash on I-55 near SW St. Louis

ST. LOUIS COUNTY, MO – An 87-year-old was hospitalized with serious injuries Monday morning following a rollover crash on Interstate 55 near southwest St. Louis, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

The wreck took place on the southbound highway at the Exit 193 ramp to Meramec Bottom Road. It was first reported at about 10:24 a.m.

Preliminary details indicate the woman, an Arnold resident, was driving a 2016 Honda CRV southbound when the car ran off the left side of the roadway. After returning to I-55, the Honda hit a curb, collided with an electric traffic signal support post, and then overturned.

Mehville Fire Protection District personnel rushed the woman to Mercy Hospital South for injuries described as “serious.”

The Honda CRV, which was totaled in the accident, had to be towed from the crash site.

No other occupants or vehicles appear to have been involved.
