STL: Man Charged With DWI in St. Francois County Crash That Injured Motorcyclist

ST. FRANCIOS COUNTY, MO – A motorcyclist was injured in an alleged drunk driving collision in St. Francois County last week, according to The Daily Journal.

The crash occurred July 3 on Pimville Road. The Missouri State Highway Patrol stated that the operator of a 2009 Yamaha motorcycle was heading eastbound when the bike was struck by a westbound 2022 GMC 1500 whose driver crossed the center line. The motorcycle overturned and the rider was ejected. The motorcyclist was seriously injured and was airlifted to Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis.

A probable cause statement said that a state trooper detected signs of alcohol impairment on the part of the GMC driver, a 45-year-old man from Farmington. It was alleged that the man admitted to investigators having consumed alcohol prior to the crash, and refused standardized field sobriety tests.

He was subsequently charged with felony driving while intoxicated, and is being held at the St. Francois County Detention Center.
