ST. LOUIS, MO – Police are searching for the vehicle involved in a fatal hit-and-run collision in St. Louis on Friday night.
The St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department released photos of the vehicle they are looking for that left the scene of the incident, a white Mazda CX9 with damage to the front driver’s side headlight and quarter panel.
Officers responded to the 3500 block of Gravois Avenue shortly after 10:30 p.m. and found a man lying in the roadway. He was pronounced dead at an area hospital.
The SLMPD Accident Reconstruction Unit learned that the pedestrian had been crossing Gravois midway through the 3500 block when he stopped in the center turn lane. The white Mazda was travelling eastbound in the turn lane and struck the man before fleeing the scene.
The man then fell into the westbound lanes of Gravois where he was struck again by a Toyota Corolla. The driver of the Corolla remained on the scene and cooperated with the investigation.
The victim was a 27-year-old St. Louis resident, police said.
