STL: Teen driver dies following single-car wreck on I-270 near Des Peres

ST. LOUIS COUNTY, MO – An 18-year-old Florissant resident lost his life Friday morning, April 19, as a result of a single-vehicle accident on Interstate 270 near Des Peres, reports First Alert 4.

The accident happened on the northbound lanes south of Manchester Road, in the later hours of the morning.

A preliminary investigation indicates the victim was operating a 2022 Nissan Altima northbound when, for reasons still unclear, he lost control of the vehicle, causing it to run off the right side of the roadway. The car’s front-end to strike a rock bluff before re-entering the roadway, where it came to a stop.

First responders pronounced the teen driver deceased at the scene. Officials said the teen was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the wreck.

Missouri State Highway Patrol Troop C continues to investigate.
